The Leafs are a very dynamic and versatile team but I can say without a doubt that Mitch Marner is the heart of that team. He brings much more to the team than just his game play, his charismatic personality and of course his singing. Him and his teammate Auston Matthews participated in a production of the nutcracker in 2019, both of them are among the most comedic on the team and the 50 seconds that they were part of the production were very funny.



To talk more about his skills on the ice Marner is without a doubt a playmaker, this season 2021-2022 his stats are somewhat impressive 26 games played with 21 points 15 of those being assists. It almost seems at times that he's afraid to take shots but if you've ever seen him shoot he definitely has no reason to be scared, I think he would just look for the safer option which happens to most of the time be Auston Matthews because Matthews has one of the best shots on the team. Mitch Marner is fast and has great hands, he is definitely one of the best players on the team.

Unfortunately as big of a fan of Marner as I am there are still things that make me feel like he's incredibly overpaid making $10.9 million a year. He is very inconsistent in his playing, he will go many games playing very well and other games where he doesn't perform to the capabilities that we know that he can. He also very much under performs in the playoffs, last year in the very disappointing loss to Montreal, Marner who was supposed to be one of the leaders of the leafs only finished with 4 points in the series of 7 games all of which were assists, a very sad performance not just by the entire leafs team but specifically by the superstars it was a huge let down and Marner was part of that sadly. Although I believe he can redeem himself this season but we'll see when playoffs come.


Probably my favourite part of Marner his his bromance with Auston Matthews, they are one of the most successful duos in the NHL right now. I put the clips of some of their highlights above and there are many of them. The chemistry on ice that those two have is really something special that adds to strength of the Toronto Maple Leafs, they're not just teammates they're friends and that's very important to how well the team plays.

Even though he's young Mitch Marner has achieved a lot including, being selected to play on the All Stars team, "Memorial Cup, a Stafford Smythe Memorial Trophy, CHL Player of the Year, a league MVP trophy (Red Tilson Trophy) and a league playoff MVP trophy (Wayne Gretzky 99 Award)". A lot of awards were won in the same year which is very impressive. He has a very good and long career ahead of him and if he keeps going like he is right now he could end up being one of the best hockey players the Toronto Maple Leafs have ever had.

The leafs have gone through a lot of goal tenders in the past years, they had of course they're previous main goal tender Freddy Andersen, then they had a large amount of backup goalies including Micheal Hutchinson, Garret Sparks, Joseph Woll, David Rittich and of course their present starter goalie Jack Campbell. Campbell started playing in a more starter role in the 2020-2021 season when Andersen was out a lot with an injury or just overall in a slump. Auston Matthews

One of the greatest talents on the leafs is their very own Auston Matthews, he has already had such an amazing career and he's so young only 24 years old. He was drafted to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2016 first overall and had probably one of the most impressive NHL debuts in history scoring not only a hat trick but 4 goals in his first ever NHL game he set a record and became the only player in modern era to score 4 goals in his first NHL game. In 2016 the leafs were not a very good team at all they were in the rebuilding process and when Auston Matthews joined the team and came out and did that I was very exciting for leaf fans everywhere. John Tavares is one of the most impressive players the leafs have with his record beginning at the OHL all the way till now is insane, he was recognized by the OHL at the age of 14 and drafted no1 pick to Oshawa in 2005, he started playing in the OHL at the age of 15 and his first season there he finished with a total of 77 points which is insane and there was no surprise when he won OHL and Canadian hockey league rookie of the year and if you think that's impressive just wait until you hear this, his next season he almost doubled his points finishing the season with 72 goals and 134 points in total. What an outstanding season at such a young age, and that season he was named most outstanding player in the OHL and player of the year in the CHL but I doubt anyone is too surprised by that.
